Internships

PCWPP does not offer internships here at the Center. For Chatham University students, all internship opportunities are coordinated by the Office of Career Services. We will occassionally post duplicate announcements here of opportunities of special relevance to those interested in public service, politics, and leadership.

The internship will either occur in Baltimore, MD, New York, NY, or Washington D.C. Interns will work with NAACP staff on relevant matters concerning civil rights.

Offered annually. A prize of $1500 will be awarded to one or more college or university students involved in public service. The award is meant to enable the student to gain practical experience in public service.

Project Vote Smart, an organization that promotes civic participation, has internships available at their ranch in Montana.

PLEN offers internships each semester and during the summer. Academic credit is available for these Washington D.C.-based internships.

The Coro Program offers a variety of leadership training programs, internships, and mentoring programs throughout the year. Applications deadlines vary, but the major leadership program's deadline is usually before Christmas.

Women's Sports Foundation offers both leadership programs and internships in its Washington DC office.

As a Project Pericles institution, Chatham College has access to a special Periclean internship program through the Washington Internship Institute called "Building Democracy."

The Local Government Academy offers paid summer internships through their Municipal Intern Program. Placement sites include Allegheny County departments, local municipalities, councils of governments and municipal authorities.
