The Elsie Hilliard Hillman Chair in Politics was established at Chatham in 1998 to encourage active participation in the political process through the study of politics, to recognize the achievements of women in the American political system and to honor the work of distinguished public leader Mrs. Elsie Hilliard Hillman. The rotating Chair holder has both an academic appointment in Political Science and an administrative appointment working with the Pennsylvania Center for Women, Politics, and Public Policy. The Chair serves as a resource to the community and teaches courses in politics at Chatham University.
