Project Pericles

Chatham University is a proud member of the new Project Pericles initiative of the Eugene Lang Foundation. The Center is home to the University's membership in Project Pericles, a select group of liberal arts colleges and universities that have made institutional commitments to promoting participatory citizenship and social responsibility within their students. Chatham’s Project Pericles initiative is anchored in a committee of the Board of Trustees, chaired by Chatham alumna and trustee Cynthia Bunton. Faculty and staff members include Marie Connolly, Joe Schrieber, Christina Michelmore, Bonnie Robinson, Laura Armesto, Esther Barazzone and student Jessica Byrd.

In this one-day student-based workshop, participants will discover the power of using stories and connecting through values to mobilize support, persuasively communicate, and motivate people to act. Participants will also explore different methods for pursuing change, including advocacy, electoral campaigns, lobbying, organizing, and policy development. Participants will develop an action plan that outlines the long term goals and short term steps needed to advance their issue / cause.
